Campus Frankenforst
The Campus Frankenforst is a central structure item of Animal Science. The teaching and research station is an organisation unit of the Agricultural Faculty. It supports the animal sciences as an essential physical and organizational requirement for a forward-looking research and practice-oriented teaching and enables the transfer of scientific findings into the society.
With the new buildings and modernization in the poultry husbandry at the Campus Frankenforst in 2020 the laying hens pen " State-of-the-Art" is relating to the precision livestock farming and animal welfare.
The dairy cattle barn, completed in 2009, combines so far an unique combination of sensor technology in the fields feeding, milking, animal observation and data processing. This enables "Precision Dairy Farming" to broad and integrated questions in animal science and related academic disciplines.
